Every time I use Tor Browser a hidden interface "lo" appears.  It is on 127.0.0.1:25?  I know they are up to no good... but how dangerous are they to the whole OS.

lo is always there.
TOR will listen on it on port 9050 (or above for TOR Browser Bundle).
lo is Loopback and is only usable from you PC, so no risk by attacks
from outside.

After the fact:  there was a memory overflow traced to that insterface.  My ssd went into scaned overdrive (similar to when Bleachbit overwrites disk space).  I did use the Tor Browser alpha version.  Now it is all water under the bridge since I wipped the ssd myself.
