It is unfortunate; I greatly appreciated lurking here reading about old radios not that many years ago (fewer than 6 years). I came back to Usenet a year ago, and this group is now almost deader than a doornail. I still keep my eye on it, but I was wondering if anyone else still lurked also. Merry Christmas!

Someday I plan on working on my collection of 20's battery sets...perhaps when I retire in my 80s. I'm only 70 and busy as ever with my usual projects. I continue to lurk, but now that I am, quite literally, back on my feet after a very interesting summer, I am so busy catching up on work and other projects that I have little time for much else. At the same time, I have a lot to be thankful for at this season. Best wishes to all! Peter Wieck Melrose Park, PA

Everybody seems to be lurking but not posting. Lurking and reading many forums here. I have a 1943 or so Philco five band radio that still somewhat works. Sadly most radio these days is digital. I inherited it as a child from my grandfather. I miss having a local radio station that plays the older radio shows on Sunday night. Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm here as well. Checking daily. Good to see a post. Moved this summer and sold off 1/2 my collection. Still have probably 200 radios..... Plan to retire from Polaris in the spring, part of the "great resignation" I guess. I'm setting up a nice workshop in my new garage, maybe I'll get back into limited service and restoration. But I'll admit my interest has waned considerably. Moving was a very enlightening experience that taught me that things collected really become burdens. 30+ years of collecting left me with a lot of burdens. Slow learner. Most of the rest of my collection will go to the Northland Antique Radio Club Radio-Daze swap meet next spring, pandemic permitting, to be sold off at bargain prices. Anyone within driving distance of western WI is welcome to come browse ahead of that. Glad to hear you are up and about, Peter. Happy Holidays to all. Terry

I have a little collection of old AA5 table top radios, as well as a few console units. Hopefully when things are less busy here, I will start to tear into them and make a few posts. I have my old vacuum tube tester at my side, but I'll have to dig out my voltage variac as well as isolation transformer. I also have a little collection of vacuum tubes and newer electrolytic capacitors. My step great-grandfather was trained on radio and television repair in the 1950's, and he gave me several cases of ceramic resistors, etc.

Anyone within driving distance of western WI is welcome to come browse ahead of that. That sounds like fun. Is it in the same area? I am only in that region in late August, unfortunately, when I drive to a car meet in eastern Minnesota.

Very little space in the new house to display radios, we downsized by about 2/3rds in square footage - but traded up to a very nice piece of lakeshore. Michael, the swap meet is about 50 miles from me in Minnesota. What car meet do you go to in August?

What car meet do you go to in August? A very small meet up in Hayfield, Minnesota. It's not far from Rochester. It's mostly a group of friends who camp out on the guys farm for the weekend, usually the second weekend of August.

If you scroll down on this wordpress page, then you find a button: "Shoutcast Based Streaming" <http://tess.fast-serv.com:8570/> Shoutcast opens and you can click on "Listen". <http://tess.fast-serv.com:8570/listen.pls> Wait a moment and your mediaplayer opens and plays the 1920 channel. In my case it's VLC-player. It's a 48kbps stream mono, but because all the music is mono, stereo is not necessary. They play music from 1900's till 1940's. VLC gives artists and titles info, including years.. That's something else, comparing to the normal oldies stations like "80's,90's and today" stations, we can here on FM and internet. I've sent them an e-mail about the wrong link. Rink
