Keely Caroline Coleman, 41, was found guilty of two counts of assault with a firearm and one count of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. Jurors deadlocked 11-1 in favor of guilt on two attempted murder charges involving the same shooting, which happened when Coleman was off duty, according to Deputy District Attorney Margo Baxter.

Robert Rico, Coleman's defense attorney, asked that his client be allowed to remain free while awaiting sentencing on Oct. 12, arguing that she is "not a flight risk" and had been free on bail. Judge Barbara R. Johnson ordered Coleman immediately be taken in to custody.

Neither the woman friend nor a man who was in the home helping her install electrical equipment were hit by the gunfire on Aug. 30, 2005, officials said.

Coleman was arrested a day after the shooting.

AP) ANAHEIM, Calif. Officials say a cardboard box containing an inflatable slide used for airplane emergency evacuations sickened employees who unwrapped it at an Anaheim office, prompting a hazardous materials investigation.

Anaheim Fire Chief Roger Smith says the slide, which would be used for a 747 aircraft, was initially processed a few weeks ago at Amsafe Bridport and sent to Saudi Arabia.

Smith said the broker there returned it to Amsafe Bridport. Smith says when employees unwrapped the slide Monday after lunch, an odor caused a handful of them to feel nauseous.

When the workers felt sick again Tuesday, they reported it to fire department officials.

Smith says authorities are investigating, but haven't detected anything yet.

Smith says the workers who felt sick declined medical aid.
